Air Quality and Noise Monitoring in Gżira
Project Start Date:
30/06/2025
Project End Date:
ongoing
We are currently supporting the Gżira Local Council through an air quality and noise monitoring project along Triq Tas-Sliema — one of the busiest roads in the locality.
As part of this initiative, three Kunak AirPro monitoring stations have been strategically installed along the road to continuously measure a wide range of environmental parameters in real time. These include:
Total Suspended Particles (TSP)
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
Sulphur Dioxide (SO₂)
Ozone (O₃)
Nitrogen Oxides (NOx)
Carbon Dioxide (CO₂)
Carbon Monoxide (CO)
Wind direction and speed
Ambient noise levels
This strategic deployment along a short but heavily trafficked urban stretch allows for a detailed spatial assessment of traffic-related pollution, traffic flow dynamics, and how the built environment influences pollutant dispersion.
The monitoring campaign, which will run for one year, aims to provide the Gżira Local Council with reliable, high-resolution data to better understand the impacts of air and noise pollution on both public health and the urban environment.
